MDSL RouterThe Moderate speed Digital Subscriber Line (MDSL) router is designed to offer cost-effective, high-speed services to roadside traffic systems. This solid product is pre-eminently suitable for application in network systems along the roads, both in urban and interurban areas as on highways. The MDSL Router provides a 10BaseT interface for connection to a local LAN or a single Ethernet equipped traffic system. The product supports a robust routing feature set for seamless integration of TCP/IP service into roadside networks. The MDSL interfaces provide full-duplex 784 kbit/s point-to-point communication over a single twisted pair for distances up to 5 km, depending on the cable type. Three MDSL interfaces are provided at each router, to enable star network, ring network configurations and repeater functionality. As an option, a local system can be connected to the router via an RS-232 interface. Depending on the protocol required, a gateway application can be added to the router to translate the RS-232 messages into TCP/IP frames that can be handled by the router. |
