SCS Section Control
SCS Route Control is an autonomous system based on the RoadRunner platform that records and registers passing vehicles at two fixed locations (entry and exit). A (digital) photo is taken of each passing vehicle and registration plates are read automatically.
If the vehicle travels the route between entry and exit within a set period of time, the speed of the vehicle has been too high and consequently a complete set of data is then sent to the regional police traffic division for further processing. A single system can process traffic simultaneously over more than one driving lane and in different sections. The system as a whole is installed in portals above the road and in boxes alongside the road. ManagementThe RoadRunner platform is fully equipped with extensive diagnostic, monitoring and alarm functions. One of the most important elements of the system is that it can be controlled and monitored remotely. This means that time-consuming and expensive campaigns conducted alongside or above the road can be reduced. Checking of camera images for dirt on lenses, slant setting or poor focus is taken care of by the Peek Service organisation. The system itself is capable of signalling whether registration number recognition is gradually deteriorating due to cameras above or alongside the road becoming increasingly obscured by dirt for instance. The system can also generate periodic reports of its own performance. The advantage of this is that statistics and performance indicators can be updated on a regular basis and then submitted to the client.
